REBUILDING A COMMUNITY CENTRE THROUGH ART
Human beings are social creatures. The loss of human connection leads to physically, emotionally and spiritually sufferings. The pain of isolations is usually unnoticeable, yet it exists all around us. This thesis proposes a quality place where people meet, socialize, where art and culture happens, in order to bring people of Winnipeg closer. So, a Community Art Centre is proposed to present art as a medium and aim to be a space for creative and social activities.
Winnipeg being a multicultural city has many potentials for getting people from different backgrounds more connected. The culture diversity causes many problems in bringing people closer. However, one of the things that interests and even unites people from all around the world is art. Art is the common language between different nationalities, which brings them together.
EUPHORIA
Displaying euphoria with colourful and bright colours contrasts dark themes of isolation. Through these drawings, explorations regarding the boundaries of colours and combining them were done.
A HAPPY PLACE
It is the people who create spaces. Hence, having a dynamic community, with different cultures promotes the quality of space. The relation between the interaction
of people and euphoria is quite close and relatively connected. Socializing, talking about shared interests, working on a group project as a community or visiting
exhibitions, enhances happiness in people.
The interaction among different cultures and euphoria is represented in the connected colourful lines.
THE SITE
PROGRAMMING
Multiple prototypes were conducted to create one form in which every space is connected to others, in a way that having a light in the middle of the form, would lighten the whole thing and light would shine out of the cube.
