ABL HOUSE

TINY HOME FOR LIFE

Every individual is different and so is their home. This is a home to a couple; a wife who works from home for an IT company and a husband who is a professional athlete, but got injured a few months ago in a ski tournament. He is now working as a consultant and has a flexible work schedule.

They are minimalist and like their house cosy. As a hobby, they play chess together and enjoy reading books.  They enjoy the outdoors and nature.

The house transforms based on the family’s needs during the day. It is designed to be in a city capable of going off-grid. It is constructed with environmentally friendly materials and is sustainable, in addition to being responsive to floods. Red River which runs through the city of Winnipeg has flooded massively three times in the past 100 years and destroyed many neighbourhoods nearby. Due to the material of the building and the structure underneath, the house can float in case of a flood.
